After over 30 years away from the hobby decided to try again after setting up a tropical planted tank 2 years ago. Tropical just was not doing it for me and wanted a challenge. Set this tank up 4 weeks ago and very pleased so far. My lfs essex marine have been great. Currently have two small platinum clownish, and a clean up crew of 3 narcissus snails, 3 blue leg hermits and 1 strawberry conch.
0 nitrate o amonia 6ppm nitrate currently. Use the hanna marine Master to test everything. Ph 8.2 as only just turned on skimmer. Red sea 90 light been set at 5% peak on blue and 2% on white. Tiny amount of brown algae and hope this has been the ugly stage. Sg25. Have installed the following on a aqua one 120. Red sea 250 reef matt, red sea 300 dc skimmer, read sea 4000 pump running at 45%. Tmc refugium 2.0 and co2 scrubber. D-d temp controller with titanium heater and fans for warmer days.Reef wave 25 currently running at 20% and small hygger pulse wave pump at rear. Designed plumbing my self with 3 gate valves for return pump, uv steriliser once I have installed that and overflow pipe has gate valve for balanced adjustment. Return has non return valve installed, appx 5 times tank turnover and balance from return pump going through refugium. Have a red sea 4 dosing system to be installed in a few months once decide to put coral in. Finally red sea auto top up with red sea can at the rear 18l
It's a bit tight in the sump which I redesigned and put a new weir in, but touch wood can access everything all OK. Refugium light runs 12 hours at night. Plan to add maybe 3 s smaller fish over coming weeks but not rushing this. The Chaeto in refugium has been growing well and will probably need to remove some soon as filling up. Using red sea pro marine salt
If there are any suggestions on what else could be done I am all ears and looking forward to creating a nice display. Thanks for letting me join the forum.
