Hi all,

Just did my second water change. After the first I had a diatom bloom that went away after a couple days. Will this happen after every water change?

Tank specs

30x30x24 (94 gal)

20 gal sump

2 AI Sol blues

Water changes where 20 gallons each

Would running GFO help/eliminate this? Someone said it could be high phosphorous.

I use ro but not di water. Filters have had about 200 gallons through them.

Well they feed off silicates... So your water, sand and possibly rocks is leaching it... It will go away with time man... How long has it been cycling?? Diatoms are a good sign the nitrogen cycle is completing...
