Hey everyone. Recently moved and used a lil bit of the home sale profits to buy a new tank.
I purchased a pro star 60 gallon cube tank.
The tank has New sand. Transferred 7 fish and some corals from my old tank. 60 pct of the Rock that was running in my old tank from and 40pct is new rock(approx). And mostly all new water(made with Red Sea salt). About 5 gallons from temp tank. Tank has been running for 4 Days, Used fritz turbo star.
Please look at the attached file. It’s my levels. Everything looks good. ALK is a lil high for SPS corals I think. Phosphates are at 0.20. Should I be trying to reduce these or just keep the number steady(plan is to eventually to add some SPS)?

corals in tank that came from old tank:
Xenia
Blastos
Kenya tree
Favia
Cinnamon rolls
All look nice and open right now

I would slowly lower alk to your desired range over a couple weeks.
For po4 determine what levels you want to run. Then decide what course of action you plan to reduce them and keep them in range.

What’s best for SPS? Alk at 9 right?
whatsbthe best method to lower?

phosphate I need to get down to about 0.05 for SPS . What’s the best method to lower that? I already have a media sock with Phosguard in it.

I run my alk at 8. 9 is fine.
I ran it at 7 for 18 months before raising it some.
Sea water alk is 6.5-7 despite what some may say.
Check my build thread for info. My system is now 95% sps.

Po4 <.1.
I use phosgaurd and it works well. Just dont use too much.

With fish and coral in the tank you can do water changes to slowly lower or just let it come down on its own.

If your salt has an alk ot 11.5 you can lower it using sodium bisulfate to the level you desire.
Google sodium bisulfate if you decide to use it. You can also get a salt that has the alk level you want to run.

That would be fine to lower alk slowly. Just keep an eye on po4 so it does not bottom out from the water changes.
Make sure your makeup water is 1dkh less than your tank.
A 10% change of 6 gallons at 1dkh less wont shock the system.
