Hi Reefers,

I will be starting a new tank (170 gallons) within the next month or so- and this time, I want to get off to the best start possible avoiding (.. as much as possible!) the ‘uglies’.

As i am working away off shore for extended periods of time, I am planning on doing this by cycling my full aqua scape in my new tank for three months (with no light!) having just the return pump and heater in place initially before i leave for work.

Once i return home, I will have the remaining equipment in place for actually starting up the tank.

Do you guys have any suggestions, recommendations or ‘best practices’ for me to follow to get this right?

Cheers!

What about ATO for water top off? The tank could run dry or have a sharp increase in salinity without it.
The ATO is in place :)

The missus will be looking after this while i’m gone..
