Tank is 40 days old, housing a single Clownfish, a couple hermits , some sexy shrimp and numerous healthy happy frags. Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates all at zero. One stubborn patch of green algae or cyano, not sure, has developed in a lower flow part of the tank. I suspect this came in on a Zoa frag that was set there a few weeks back. There are a few bubbles forming in the green carpet which makes me think it could be cyano?

Considering the tank is young, I'm not too concerned about the uglies and generally leaving things alone this early on. However I do want to nip this in the bud if it's something of concern. It has been spreading over time. I ordered a cleaner pack of various snails from ReefCleaners to perhaps handle it. Anyone able to ID this?

I've been feeding a bit heavy and turned the skimmer off to get nitrates to detectable levels but seeing as the tank is newly cycled and I only recently added fish, I wasn't too concerned. As for phosphates, I haven't tested for them. Will do that next. I'm not too concerned about nuisance algae as the tank is young, I'm more just looking for an ID to make sure this isn't a plague of some kind that needs to be nipped in the bud.

To be honest it looks a bit like green cyno ...which an unbalance in no3 and po4 will sometimes cause ...also there seems too be a rise in new tanks experiencing dinos ...also caused by an unbalance in nutrients. ...like i said ..thats where id start ..
