Haha thank you SeanWelcome to R2R Josh.
Thank you Shepherd, I appreciate itHello and welcome to the channel.
Thank you, it is a mixture of 40 lbs of white fine sand and 40 lbs of black Carib sea sand. I added the black on top because it looked kind of cool and we heard the fine sand gets swept out over time. So I thought why not. The really cool thing is when I was cycling before I added the black, I made a rookie mistake by adding way too much bio fuel for the bacteria so my nitrite looked like blood, but after adding the black (live) sand the nitrites dropped sharply and I was able to successfully cycle the tank.Welcome! What's the substrate I see? I don't recognize it.
Thank you Karen I’ve always wanted a saltwater tank. We got such a good deal on the two tanks and cabinet that it was the perfect time to finally start. And I’ve been loving every minute of it so farWelcome to the salty side and the community Josh! That's a beautiful setup you have. I look forward to seeing it grow out.

Nice set up Josh - i predict great things for this tank!Hello I Josh, I live in Parker, Co. Back in January we bought a 75 gallon 48”x18”x18” gallon pre drilled rectangle tank with 40 gallon sump. Built or rockscape out of 49 lbs of rock. Added sand and water in February cycled for 20 days then added two baby clownfish. 30 days later added 2 AI primes.
then added a Midas Blenny, a Tomini Tang. A week later added a cleaner shrimp a brittle star fish and a holloween hermit crab. On may 8th we added Blasto and an Acan. Just recently upgraded from the two primes to two Hydra 26’s. We haven’t had an ugly phase thanks goodness. Just a coating of green alge on the rock and everything seems to be doing really good.
Looking forward to learning new things from everyone and growing awesome coral.
So true, we still spent quite a bit to get it where it’s at now but I’m glad we can start the fun part, picking livestock at the right times and watching them grow. And thank you I definitely will. Im glad I’m hereThat's awesome! Gotta love a deal, especially in this hobby. If you have any questions there are experts in every area of the hobby so don't hesitate to ask.
