I have only recently started using a sump and am wondering why I have 2 spots available for filter socks? Obviously the water flows down the pipe straight into the first one which makes sense however I don't see how a 2nd would work or benefit me? Any information would be great.

Putting a second filter sock there it would still absorb some things, although not as efficiently as your main filter sock.

You could put a media cup with something like polyfil or carbon or even more rubble rock in there.

Usually when I see filter sock plates like that you don't have the return going into one of the socks, it goes to a separate spot and then overflows into both socks.
