Hey all, wanted to introduce myself reel quick (pun intended).
My name is Michael, I live in brentwood, married with a couple kids and am new to saltwater.

I’ve been lurking for a few years and decided to finally get started.

i am not sure of my exact route yet, but am fairly close to deciding what to do.

I’m also a custom cabinet maker, Nashville Modern Caninetry, and am excited to build unique canopies/skins for a lot of the all in one system’s I see floating around.

here is some of my cabinet work.. and soon I hope to post my tank and setup!

thank you!

!!! Welcome to R2R Michael !!! Looks like you're an expert with the cabinets. I can't imagine what you can make for your tank with that talent.

Well, thanks everyone. I am certinly looking forward to it and very excited!

Right now, I have a 40 gallon seaclear (3' long). I plan on welding a 12" acrylic box on the back of it, that is 35" long and the same height. Essentially making a custom "All in one".

I am excited as this is my first saltwater tank AND I get to make it my own (in a sense)

Thats a cool idea! I love the idea of an AIO, my wifes tank is one. Really intrigued to follow along!

I could actually use some quick advice.

I do not know much about lighting (Actinic?)
However, I know that I do not like that whole "disco lights that makes my tank purple"

I am set on using Sbreef lights.
The tank is 36x15x16 tall.

Since there will be a canopy above, I do not mind using goosenecks.

or I could use two of these:

or this...

need some guidance for sure!

Just not sure what to do for the lighting.

Actinic only will be very purple. Having the ability to shift the color spectrum to suit your tastes will be key to your satisfaction. Any black box type array like the ones above will have less of the shimmering effect often associated with point sources of light (like Kessils or metal halide).

Im a Sb reef user myself! i run 3 16 basics over my 220 predator tank, and have a 45 wifi on order for my new 72 reef build.

Oh man, y'all are going to be fun to get to know haha.

Just ordered the acrylic cement, it should be here next week sometime.
I also ordered the live rock, this way I can at least start to aquascape.

I also want to say... it is SO hard to wair for black friday/cyber monday deals... I know most are onyl 10-15% off.. But i am hoping there will be some last minute ones.
The SBreef lights had a black friday sale last year (i read) and im hoping the Gyre XF330 pump go's on sale.

I have plenty to do until then though :D.
