I just added a second mp10wES to my tank! anyways I had the first one for a couple of months and noticed when I installed the new one that it was significantly louder than the one I had already been running! It's centered and correctly installed so I'm just curious weather it needs some time to break in or something or if it might be faulty or simply just louder. Anyone noticed something like this? are some louder than others? I practically have to put my ear next to the older one to hear it's whirring on the other hand I can still hear the new one while I do this! any thoughts? thanks

When I bought my new vortechs they were very loud. They seems more quiet now but I'm not sure if they got less louder or I just got used to the noise...

a friend told me his gets loud every time he cleans it so maybe it's loud until it gets a little buildup of organic matter...:squigglemouth:... we'll see

They tend to quiet down over time. It usually takes about a month.

I was under the impression that the bearings had to "break in" and literally smooth out which translates to some noise.

I hope it quiets down for you; mine did.
