New York is expanding it's reefs

Since I surf fish and I'm registered with the state I received this post card yesterday.

No, not really. These arent the colorful coral filled reefs you think of..... they just turn into micro ecosystems that support algae growth, inverts, small fish, and thus larger fish which call the area home and make for better fishing in the area.

Yeah, occasionally I'll see some divers while fishing. Mid January a few years ago I took a ride to the South Shore to walk the beaches and just kill some time on a Sunday afternoon, it had to be in the mid teens because it was freezing out. I was sitting at the pier of Cedar Beach and all of sudden two divers pop out of the water, swim to shore and walk to their car in the parking lot, the water temp. had to be in the low 30's.

Instead of coral they use wise guys.

Lol, so is swimming. If you don't know any better it's a lot of fun.

Grew up in Massachusetts near Rhode Island. We went to Newport 2nd beach all the time as kids. 62ﾟ water in late August and we were having a ball because we didn't know any better.

Scuba diving in Fort Wetherill, Rhode Island on New Year's Day with just 7 mil 2 piece wetsuits.

This was after spending 5 years in Hawaii with the Coast Guard.
Buddy got stationed in Cape Cod and I was home visiting family.

We wore 7 mil hoods but just a mask and scuba regulator. you kept squeaking your regulator with your teeth to hear it because you couldn't feel it anymore.
You were still breathing so you must be fine.
