Does anyone use the NFP reactors?

Are they worth it?

I can't grow algae I've tried and it never works.
I manage phosphate with LC and am happy doing it this way for the ease of use and control

I have a nitrate level of at least 100+PPM

Although the tank looks ok I get little to no growth on my sps

Any one have any input

This product would be another option - low upfront cost of just an airstone in each bag + an airpump.
Its the titanium ones you would need as it will work regardless of your po4 being low.

You won't be able to grow algae until you get the nitrate down to lower levels. Sulfur based nitrate reactors do work. If you have a good skimmer, small amounts and a slow and steady approach with organic carbon will work, but you might have to stop with the LC since it will lower the P some too.

Do you have real live rock and sand? If so, it might need some maintenance but it can also help to lower nitrate very well.

I'll have a look into nitra guard.
I do have LR and a sand bed. The sand gets moved about by my pumps, blue cheek, wrasse and conch so probably not going to be any good for housing bacteria.

I did consider adapting my ALR reactor to house siporax in and putting low flow through it

I like the idea of the NFP as it should be able to give me a nitrate level I want without to much hassle

Bit of an old thread, but thought I’d chime in—I went with the NFP route.

Picked up a Deltec NFP180 (way oversized) for my 300L FOWLR with 3 Japanese Dragon eels, so the bioload’s pretty heavy. NO₃ was insane—500+ ppm—even with weekly 50% water changes and a big SEATORCH SKIMMER UM-300IN.

Been running the reactor at 1–2 ml/min with 38 ml vodka/RODI (1:4) for about 2 months now, and it’s holding under 20 ppm. Planning to slowly increase flow over the next few weeks to nudge it even lower.
