noobie type alk question

What is considered an alk swing, point wise? I know we want to be as stable as possible and I believe most of the differences in my alk (2.7-2.9 mq/l) are probably testing variances, but I am curious as to what is considered an alk swing in numbers.

one meq is a swine when we are talking about alk. my reef loves 3.5 stable as possible. great color and growth. hope this helps
