Not many newbies lately?

Christmas and Tax returns spawn new tanks and hobbyist. Come March through May the ugly tank season is going strong.
If the newer hobbyist has the fortitude and money they spend spring and summer stocking and buying the equipment they should have bought back in January.
By fall the newly minted hobbyist has either decided to throw caution to the wind and continue their self induced torture or another equally and expensive hobby has caught their attention.

Probably has to do due to the cost of everything ? That probably has to slow down new tanks as well

While not new to it myself when if first started my already expensive other hobby was gun collection and while that collection is lacking at only around 40 firearms ...the tank did compete for a bit for resources. Best advice I could give to any newbies is forget you had the idea and put your money elsewhere, lol.

I know I would i could go back in time. I have thought of the idea of just closing down the tank ..selling off the equipment. My "new" expensive hobby is paying asset makers hundreds / thousands for assets for my new upcoming game. If i ever decide to invest my time back into the tank i'll never complain about coral prices again, lol. But right now its mostly sunk cost fallacy i wont close it because of the investment but i've lost 95% interest in the tank due to cost.

Don't lose hope, NJ neighbor!

It's that time of the year. Holidays, plus with everything going up. I'm sure discretionary spending is being cut by a large amount of people.

I know my LFS has really been struggling. Especially in the Saltwater area. He's cut way down on what he orders.

In addition to what's been mentioned already, I'm going to say that I still see a fair number of new members in the welcome forum, so at least some are still joining.

And I believe to prevent fraud/spam/lunatics/etc., often times a new member's first post needs to be approved personally by one of the R2R staff. Sometimes, they get backed up, and then they approve a lot of posts all at once, making it seem like there was a sudden flood of new members.

Just my $0.02 🙂
