Happy new year guys!

What are your thoughts of putting an Oase biomaster 850 canister filter (filled with good pads and biohome ultimate marine) on a sumpless 75g instead of using an in the tank skimmer?

a canister filter and a skimmer do different things.

a canister filter provides mechanical filtration (catches food and other floating debris), and also allows you to run carbon and other media if you want.

a skimmer draws dissolved organics from the water (fish pee, dissolved food and fish poop), it also has the side benefit of providing oxygen in the aquarium water.

You can run either one, or run both, or neither.

Didn’t know the skimmer provided oxygen! I’ll keep it then. Thank you!

Marine Pure Biological Media – 1.5 Inch Spheres
I'd go with because I have found out that the biohome have made rock's and the person told me that the flats broke up not long after getting wet!. So that put me off.
