Octopus HOB skimmer

How old is your skimmer and how long has it been since it was last unplugged or powered off for any reason?

6 months old, i haven’t used it in a month because of parasites and med treatments. i’m aware that can affect it but i think dang near all that is out besides me dosing here and there w copper. so i’m thinking it just has to break in again?

That was my first thought! Need to rebuild the bio-film. However, I have an in-tank Sicce Shark 300 and every time I take it off line (even if just for a minute to empty the skimmer cup) I get an up tick in micro bubbles for at least a few hours. Overnight is usually enough to restore order, but that's with the unit submerged the whole time and not cleaning the inside of it, except the cup. Having an HOB, you probably can't adjust water level, but make sure that is correct if it can vary. You may need to play with the air intake if it persists.

see that’s the thing, i turn it off when i can’t monitor it because it will over flow onto the floor 🤣 hobby problems i suppose lol. THANKS ! feel free to pass more knowledge 🙌🏻

How long did it take to fill that skimmer cup that much in the video? To me it looks like there is way too much coming up into the cup and needs to be dialed back. Love your Dog-Face Puffer and Angel!
