This is my official resignation of being a r2r forum member. I was just notified that r2r removed another members thread due to me apparently promoting a LFS that does not pay r2r a sponsor fee. I realize r2r needs to make a profit to operate, however completely removing the thread all together, come on guys...a simple explanation of things that cannot be "promoted" or the removal of the post that you consider "non compliant" would have be sufficient. I have never been paid by any "fish store" in fact, I don't even sell corals, as I am a small business owner and realize it is very difficult for a vendor to survive in today's market. So I don't compete with them. I have supported over 15 different vendors on reef2reef, and have promoted different corals from different vendors many times on here. I'm tired of the politics, I tried to be engaging and introduce fun topics as much as possible on r2r, and I met allot of great people on here, so it's a shame this happened, but this is too much for me. The hilarious thing about this whole turn of events, is the LFS that apparently I cannot mention on here, I had been strongly convincing to become a sponsor on r2r. Thanks to everyone who I met on here and engaged in various topics on here! So long!!! Happy reefing!

If your post is true I'm sure many would join you. I can't imagine Rev would let this kind of thing happen. I for one will be taking the wait and see approach. How's about it Rev, give us the other side of this story.

I would look into both sides of the story on this one. R2R usually offers warnings and edits out the offending content rather than deleting the entire post.

I know when others have asked about good LFS I have recommended vendors that are and aren't sponsers without having content removed, so unless it was actually on a vendor's subforum, it wouldn't have been removed.

@hinovak , there is moreto this than the perspective that you have been told.

I certainly don't know the whole story, but my feeling is that if you've violated the terms of service, you've violated the terms of service.....period!

The difference between R2R and other forums is that on other forums, you would have been immediately banned.....and not have the opportunity to complain. I'd consider yourself lucky.....maybe take the advice of the moderators, and no longer mention an LFS....and move on.

That seems atypical for R2R. There is even a showcase for talking about LFS and giving ratings. Was this trying to sell something?

Hi @hinovak. First, I'm sorry you're deciding to leave R2R. We certainly hate to see someone leave, especially over a misunderstanding. I can assure you that the staff does not remove someone's thread bc of another person's post within it, so it seems you're missing a big part of what has taken place. If your post within a thread is in violation of our rules, we edit or remove the post. If the thread itself is somehow in violation, then we would edit or remove it, but we never remove one person's thread bc of another person's reply in it. That action just wouldn't make any sense.

Second, it saddens me that you're deciding to leave and making this accusation without so much as contacting the staff to try to find out what the situation might be. Why not reach out to a staff member for clarification on such issues? We're not perfect, but we truly do our best to keep R2R an environment where everyone can participate and enjoy the community. If you have a concern, we're happy to help fix it or at least explain it as much as we are able. So it's always best to contact us before assuming the worst about us.

This brings up a third point which is that our site rules require that disagreements with moderating decisions be brought to the staff's attention via pm and NOT by posting in the open forum. If you're interested at all in finding out what may have actually happened, feel free to contact one of us directly. However, this thread is not a place for that discussion.

I hope you will reconsider your decision to leave. If you'd like to contact one of us, perhaps we can work through this. For our part, we're willing to help if you'll take the step to contact us.

Imo and we know it don't matter I say good riddance to those who stomp their feet and moan cause they broke the rules in some way not saying this is the case here but that's my thought of you wanna leave..... Leave no-one forces users to stay. Its so highschooly to cry in a post

So further if you don't like it leave, if your an adult get to the bottom of the story before starting a long post about how bad you think you've been treated .... Get over the he said she said and go to the source I'm sure r2r mods have a reason they do what they do

That said good luck on future endeavors

We have almost a million visits a month here at R2R and I still HATE it when even one member feels like they need to leave R2R. I am not sure what is going on with the situation you posted about but we will all be looking in to it. We have a team of GREAT mods and fellow hobbyists here so I am sure we can figure it out. Thanks.

I replied to that thread and was wondering why it was removed? Hinovak has an amazing collection of corals and all he was doing was discussing his corals and where he got it. He has always been positive and helpful, it is a shame to lose a great reefer over this.

I would think it would be courteous of the mods to let a person know why they deleted the thread, not the other way around. Who really reads all the terms of service for every forum they are a part of. I realize ignorance is no excuse but warnings and courtesy PM's stating why something is removed would be the above and beyond that Rev seems to want R2R to be.
