Nice, we've been bleeding o & g since the 40s. I helped a couple players myself although I'm not at liberty to say exactly why. :p Let's just say you can take the boy outta Carol City but you can't take Carol City out the boy.

In your experience, is higher PAR better for coloration for WD? Or is that better for growth?

SBB Yellow Fever

Low par around 175 and it will be true yellow with hints of green and pink

Once I had it growing well I bumped up par to an average of 300 with peaks around 400

In daylight spectum it’s easily one of the brightest corals in the tank. Its really nice and doesn’t need a windex look to stand out. It’s actually a coral I really enjoy in a whiter natural spectrum

But, when the tank ramps down and goes to the blues…it’s a stunner there also

Definitely coloration. My approach with acros is to grow them in lower par first, then gradually increase it to achieve peak coloration. When buying acros, I suggest asking the vendor which type of lighting they use, along with any spectrum and par info they have. Most acros will shift to green or brown in lower intensity, but the colors will return eventually if you fine tune the intensity and spectrum. For instance, if the seller uses halides, and you have led, expect a color shift in most cases.

Usually the bright pinks and yellows require par north of 300, but flow takes a part in that too. Adjusting flow alone can change the colors of sps, but there are minimum requirements too, they usually want lots of random flow. Sometimes it’s an experiment to see how it all plays in your tank, as there is no guaranteed number that will yield a certain color or growth. But changes should be made very gradually, and it may take many months to a year+ to see results.

Wd is a faster grower for me by far and I do notice a more green yellow in lower par for wd

I picked this up today for $79 with tax which I thought was a nice deal. I originally went to pick up my garf bonsai and couldn’t walk away from this. Starting it at bottom of tank. I dipped in KCL and then very gentle diluted peroxide. Polyps came right out when it went in. Hope that’s a good sign.

I have an orange passion and those 2 are my highest end corals. The passion has been in my tank for a month or so and is not hairy yet, however it is showing its orange polyps but they are shy. It’s a 6 bulb t5 with quanta meso blue for some pop.

This is my CC pink highlighter and Jolt under said lighting. The Jolt looks better from a couple feet away. The highlighter is only cool up close IMO. Neither would be my choice for a centerpiece honestly.

I go to my LFS, I'll stare at the pieces until I get kicked out of the store.
Mind you, they are doo doo colors when I buy them. I like watching them grow and color up.
