Orange sponges didn't take long to settle

I got these orange sponges (Hymeniacidon sinapium) from the beach.
It's only been a few days since I put them in the tank, and it is amazing how fast they have grown and taken hold of the surface already. They weren't attached to anything and were just on their own when I put them in the tank, then they were like this in less than a week.
Love the sponges.

I would be careful about taking stuff from the ocean and putting it into your tank. In a lot of areas, it's illegal to take sponges under 5 inches. Applies to the Gulf of Mexico and Straits of Florida. If it wasn't from one of those areas, you are fine.

Side note, sponge looks great, and I love sponges too!

Yeah, I looked it up (before taking them) and it appears to be legal where I live.

It's been 7 days since the last photo was taken and it's spread a bit.

That is so cool . Collecting your own . . I wish I had some that were easy to collect . I had to buy a red sponge from LFS . Expensive in my mind :45 .00 The be careful warning of what you put in your tank from the wild is true . The gulf oysters i put in my sump were probably the source of a black Cyanobacteria that was toxic to fish . I didn’t lose any but if I hadn’t corrected the issue I would have lost my fish . Used chemiclean and knocked it out . . I didn’t think that shipping live dry oysters on ice could bring anything with them. .

The hermit crabs I collected on the beach could have been the source of my Hair algae , that took me three years to get rid of . It was tenacious , fast grower and ugly to look at . It covered everything real fast . Although my water was clean . Cause I was harvesting gobs of it every week . .
. So now I have quarantine tanks that are setup to house my incoming hand collected specimens . Which I love to look at . They become small ecosystems overtime .

Did I read on another thread that you are from South Korea?

That is an excellent picture. Would you do a full tank shot and describe your ecosystem.
