Just ordered my new dream tank (Red Sea reefer 525 xl) it’s going to be a huge upgrade from my all in one diy aqueon 29 gal. I opted for the base package without all of the Red Sea equipment. What’s everyone’s recommendations on equipment, return pump, power heads, skimmers, lighting and anything else. This is my first large tank and I’m wanting to get more medium to high end equipment thanks in advance.

sadly I think you'll hear more of this: Do some searches on redsea failures, and if you can opt out, do so. Innovative Marine and Waterbox are both solid alternatives in roughly the same price point.

Do the same research for equipment. I hate filter socks, so I went with a matt roller and a skimmer, which worked great, but I'm transitioning to an algae turf scrubber instead.

Lights?

Reefi, orphek, kessil

Powerheads? Tunze, red sea gyres, Vortechs if you don't remind replacing $$ parts, Jeabo's are fine too tbh.

Skimmer: Reef Octo, regal is nice.

Return pump: I went with a controllable Jeabo and it honestly works great

IM Helio is a fantastic heater

Tunze osmo for ATO

Red sea if you want a roller mat

Apex or Hydros

Don't forget a doser
