I purchased 2 Osmolator 3155 ATOs in April and am having what I believe to be optical sensor issues with both. Anyone able to help?

They’re both brand new and not dirty. Low water indicator kicks on the pump and would go until the float valve hits the high water alarm. I took the optical sensor out of the mount and submerged it a few inches to test what happens and the pump still runs. Happened to both units. They were working fine, I turned the power off during a water change and when I flipped the power back on, neither of them worked correctly.
