I have a 2+yr old 20gal that's unfortunately experiencing a dino outbreak. While taking a look at the glass at night to check on the microfauna population and see what remains I noticed a new critter that I've never seen before. I ended up siphoning up a few in a syringe to get a closer look. From my observation they look around 1mm in diameter and seem to waddle or walk around the glass. After some research I think they might be ostracods though look to be very common in freshwater so I'm not for certain on what they are. Other than that I don't really see these critters as a threat to the tank but rather impressed these guys randomly appeared even though I haven't introduced anything new to this specific tank for over a year.

I do also have that $20 microscope coming in hopefully tomorrow for dino ID and might be neat to see what these little critters look like under it.
