Just wondering if anyone else out there keeps turtles. Not so much i a pond outside but in their house. I have three and I am planning on building them a new tank and was looking for ideas.

I've got a 55 with a musk and a slider. Here's my current project to make the top a little more usable:

How about a pond inside the house! Meet Mike the Red-Eared Slider. I've always had my turtles in those thick, plastic pre-fab pond-liners you can get from Lowes or HD for about $50-$100. I fill the lower bowl with water and upper with rock/soil for them and a basking site.

I'd go the bare bottom route. They make such a mess pooping that it's hard to keep gravel clean. Also, some turtles will eat gravel and this can cause problems. Make sure you have 10x filtration to keep the water the cleanest it can be.

I have three turtles. A Map, A Painted, and a Yellow Belly. I have had them about 7 months now. I got them at about the size of quarters not they are about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. My ultamate goal is to have a tank built that is a tank that is a 4' by 4' cube with a height of 3'. This way when they are full grow at almost 8-10" they will have plenty of room to move around the tank. I know a 40 gallon breeder would work for one maybe two but I think it would be to crowed for all three. When I got them I was like aww they are turtles how fun could they be. But they have awesome personalities. I might see what it takes to at least put two 40 gallon breeders together till I have the money and room for a tank of that size. One thing I am going to do is use aquarium safe silacone and sand to make the floor covered. I have noticed the turtles trying to scratch their way out....lol

Pondliner is a cool habitat till they out grow it. Glad to see everyone giving their turtles space water and land wise . They love both areas. They make turtle tubs like the pond liner but guarantee they are more expensive. You have enough room for a zoo med turtle filter......keep up the good work. Turtles are one of the most abused amphibians. Managed a LFS for many years, we specialized in reptiles and had quite a few turtles and tortoises. Anyone do snakes or tarantula's? Two of my fav's. 5 snakes and 11 tarantula's.

I have a musk and a slider in a rubbermaid bin. I just got them free from a NWIMAC member. I had a slider I got in 1986 that passed away four years ago. This is my first time getting back into them since.
It's about 4" and NEVER comes out from under the rock structure I made.
I was thinking about doing that, but I hate feeding live foods. I feel guilty....

weve got 3 right now. 2 yellow bellys, and a soft shell. the yellow bellys are very tame but hardly see the soft shell. all are 3.5 inches or smaller and in a 20L right now. i have feeder guppies in there but i dont think they eat them...started off with a few and now have 20+. also what do you use for filtration?
The guy that gave me the setup and turtles cut a hole in the back of the tub and put a small penguin filter with a biowheel in it. Seems to work great so far.

all three of mine are always out. they never hide. either hanging out on the ledge or swimming around. i like the rubbermaid container idea. i might have to do that.
