Hello fellow reefers,
Our names are Ryan and Tiffany, we live in Miami Florida, and we wanted to share our new 60 gallon reef build with all of you. This isn’t our first reef tank and are very excited about implementing all the things we have learned so far to our new 60 gallon cube.

Our tank dimensions are 24"x24"x24” and is going to be primarily SPS dominate, we plan on posting our whole build and progress pictures every step of the way...Additionally we will be asking for feedback from you guys as well...

This is our tank, after doing a lot of research, and searching we found a posting on OfferUp that said “60 gallon reef tank for $160” and we couldn’t pass it up.

The 60 gallon cube tank we purchased did not come with a stand so we are building a stand which is going to be 36 inches tall. Attached is a progress photo.

Thanks everyone for responding, we are so excited about this build, and excited to share and post our progress....We have some new to us philosophies in reefing that we are going to try for the first time and will be aquascaping with coral placement and growth patterns in mind....Along the way we will be asking for advice and opinions

Ok guys!!! Like mentioned in first post...I will be asking for help along the way...and well here it goes...so having a cube aquarium has its own unique challenges...And the biggest of which is fitting all the required equipment under the stand...So I have decided on an eshopps refugium/sump in particular because it is the only one i have found so far that actually will fit under my tank, however not with out some pre-planning....But my biggest question is can anyone tell me why I should get the medium vs nano??? I understand the additional water volume (while not much) could be beneficial I don’t see much difference...the nano is actually more $ but I’m kinda leaning toward the nano because it will provide much needed space under the stand...While there are other options that I could get with out a refugium I will primarily be using for a home for the micro organisms rather then actual nutritient removal since in either case it won’t be big enuff to make a significant impact over my slimmer....

I would go with the larger, only because it will hold more water when you turn off the pump and the tank water siphons down.

What I did for extra equipment (dosing and ATO with 5 gal bucket) is get a accent cabinet to stand beside my tank. There just is not enough room under a 24 cube for everything.

Hey guys sorry haven’t been on in few days but have some updates on the build....Got some equipment in and probably gonna space the posts out a bit but went ahead and ordered the sump and it had arrived promptly from bulk reef...I know I had posted 2 options I was looking at but actually called an audible and got a skimz up14 instead....It is pretty feature rich and fit the required dimensions...It does have some design issues I think I would want to change but all in all for the given space I think was the best most serviceable option....
