Overflow pipe going into sump too noisy. Help me fix it.

So I have a bean animal setup and the full siphon line is 1 1/2 inches. It’s a bit too noisy for my taste and wondering how I can fix it without re doing the plumbing.

I assume the noise is coming from the water in the sump hitting the water in the drain.

From the video, it looks like you just need to close the valve a little to restrict the drain a bit more. Where are your secondary and emergency drains?

They are just to the right of the main drain. Both 3/4 or inch. Just testing the plumbing out but considering making the secondary go into the refugium.

The problem is that if I restrict the siphon drain, the secondary makes gurgling noise from the top. I like the secondary to have barely any water come through it. The top of the secondary is wide open though so I haven’t tried putting a cap on it with a hole yet.

Not sure if that would make much a difference though. the water that would go from the main drain would just end up in the secondary and that water would hit the sump water and make noise too I guess.

You may need to have more of a height difference in the primary and secondary drain pipes in the overflow box. Try removing or lowering the primary drain pipe in the overflow box. The part above the bulkhead.
