Overgrown

When I started my tank I didn’t realize how fast certain corals grow. A red Monti and some Bambam zoanthids are taking over.

Is there a good way to remove most of these without losing the rocks they’re on? Would like to make room for something else but concerned they would grow back and crowd other corals out again.

Be careful if messing with zoas, potential source of palytoxin

I did my best to remove and scrape away the red monti, put glue on it, put another rock on top of it, it always grew back, in the end I had to remove the rock.

For the zoa's I have no idea but they look pretty well established. Good luck but I can't think of a way to remove them without removing the rock.

I agree that getting a new piece of rock is less work/expense than dealing with palytoxin. You might see if you can trade the zoa rock with LFS or local club in exchange for a large piece of rock.
