Painting under trim

Has anyone else had an issue with painting a trimmed tank and seeing a noticeable difference between the black paint on the back of the tank and the trim? I painted a 40g breeder with Rust Oleum Black paint and when I filled the tank up, the trim was not only visible but the water reflected back. I'm currently attempting to paint under the trim without damaging it but it has proven to be difficult.

Any suggestions or words of advice would be greatly appreciated!

It happens with paint sometimes because the lighting makes a difference on how it looks and it depends on the surface you are painting! You really should do several thin layers to get the best results vs one or two thick layers. And going over it again like you said. When I painted my stand I used about 10 cans of spray paint at which point I realized I should’ve just used normal paint.
