Palythoa: Removing Safety

I have a healthy colony of Palythoa which has been around for about 7 years now in my tank. But now that my son is getting to the age where he could stick his hand in the tank, I want to remove it. Can anyone recommend a safe way to remove it, and the live rock it is on, while keeping risk of poisoning to an absolute minimum?

I find them really receptive when you bother then a bit first before trying to remove them, and then go at them with a blunt speckle scraper. Gloves, masks and eyewear are for the weak!

Well it sounds like you had an experience huh? I ended up taking the rock and sticking it in a gallon baggie underwater, then brought it to my LFS to sell. In the process I did end up pinching a few of the polyps with the bag, but it was pretty much inside the bag and all underwater at that point. I did wear chemical gloves during the process. LFS gave me $35
