Can anyone who keeps BTAs chime in with what PAR they are keeping theirs under?

I haven’t kept BTAs in a long time and the one I just got is still acclimating - but it is halfway hiding from the light. Mine is under about 250, a 120W LED. Because pictures are fun, here’s what it looks like 😅

Oh, forgot to add: it only opened up this much after I put a couple screens on top of the tank. The lights do dim, but changing their programming is a hassle!

Your bta is fine under that kind of par. I would avoid adjusting the lights a bunch because that will actually stress the anemone out more. If the anemone isn’t pleased with the light it is getting, it will move somewhere else. However, yours looks fine so I wouldn’t worry about it

Someone should have reminded me how dramatic BTAs are. It’s not wandering around the sump per se, but it’s walked back and forth underneath the rock it’s attached to. It also has gone through several inflation deflation cycles throughout the day.

I’ve only kept gigs and mags for the last decade - and moving around and deflating are rare and exceedingly bad signs of they happen. So I am adjusting to what’s normal 😅. All this action is stressing me out.

I did end up turning down the LEDs - but am not sure it’s only related to light. It also can’t be ruled out that the clowns are doing this - the BTA is definitely too small for the female - the male is probably pushing it too. I haven’t messed with flow at all. Can take a vid if anyone thinks it’s helpful.

Can anyone advise how long a normal settling in period is for BTAs?

Got a CSB a little over a month ago and it’s is at 200-250 par in its current spot. It’s growing nicely and has started to regain color from shipping stress just over the past week or so.

Here’s an update for today. I’d say it’s now inflated almost always with maybe an hour every other day or so where it shrinks down. A big improvement from a week ago when it seemingly was shrunk down at least 75% of the time. I do think too much light was a factor. But for the first two weeks it was easily shrunk down or moving to another spot most of the time.

Don’t mind the female… she keeps a close eye on me (mostly begging for food!).
