Paul's 40 Gallon Reef

Flow got an upgrade yesterday! These 2 jeboa rw-8's came in and replaced my old hydors. I'm very impressed with them. The pulsing and wave type mode are awesome. They are quieter, smaller, more powerful than the hydors.

I also ended up picking this beautiful little gal up. It was eating LRS at the store so I couldn't pass it up. Nice replacement for the Lubbock's. I've had her for exactly a week now and she never hide in the sand and is getting along great with everyone.

Very nice Paul!

Keep up the updates of your awesome reef! I've been using your thread as an inspiration to building my forty gallon breeder . I was wondering what kind of check valve and hose you used for your return. And also did you use any strainers or elbows in your herbie overflow. How did you set your water level? Thanks for your thread

Thanks guys!
@Egalindo2240, I used a George Fischer Y check valve. I used pex for return hose. I did not use any strainers but did use an elbow in the emergency drain (in the overflow box). There are also elbows going down to the sump on both drains (2 drains in Herbie, full siphon and emergency). Best of luck on your 40 breeder, they are fun tanks.

Great tank and progression! How are you liking the 2 RW-8's? I have a 40breeder as well and was thinking they might provide too much flow compared to a few rw-4's?! What mode and how high do you have them turned up?

Thanks. I like them. They are both on 3/8 on power. One is on constant the other on W1 (wave). RW-4's would probably work but this is what my buddy had in stock. They still take up less room than my old hydors.

Awesome! Great to know! Thanks for the feedback!

Added a yellow head jawfish and a kamohara blenny. The jawfish wouldn't come out for this video, but here is a photo I managed to get with my phone.

And here is an updated video of everyone (besides the shy jawfish.)

Added this potter's leopard yesterday night. Was gonna pick it up Monday but got it early. I really hope this one works out for me. Love this fish. Here is a video of him coming out this morning after acclimation & social acclimation yesterday. Everyone is being good. :)
