Paypal Dispute...

This really sucks.

Paypal is getting scummy and starting to find more and more ways of holding on to peoples money. They are just like any other bank and use peoples money to invest in loans and other investments, This is just another way they dug up to be able to use your money longer. Its absolutely sad. They do it now with most Ebay sales and hold the money till 3 days after the buyer recieves the item, that can be a couple of weeks or longer. Looks like now they are starting to do it with more and more transactions. They act like they are the good guys looking out for the buyers but really they just want to use your money for other investing. If in all your transactions prior you didn't screw a customer why would you be a threat now? Its a load of crap.

I haven't got my money from paypal yet at this point. Sent several pms to this buyer yesterday and today and never heard anything back yet. Called paypal and asked for my money to be released. But paypal said the buyer first opened a dispute for unautheorized transaction. I assume paypal doesn't lie to me. Then it forces me to believe that the buyer has lied to me. At this point, I have to believe that this is a scam.

If I sent somebody money, paypal put a hold on that money, and that seller contacted me saying "I do not want to ship these corals until the money clears," I would completely understand.

If I was selling something to somebody and paypal put a hold on the money, and the seller demanded I send the items before the cash was in my pocket I would probably question who I was dealing with.

I just dont think it is fair that you would have to take money out of your pocket to ship your corals when you are not 100% sure the money will be put in your account.

If paypal said it was not them holding the funds then it was not them. They do not lie. This same thing happened to another member and he sent the corals and is out the cash and coral. Do not send anything till the cash is yours and you take it out of the acount. This is sad. Now you have to be more and more careful who your dealing with. That sucks Frank. Do not ship anything to this guy.

Yeah, I don't ship until I have cash in account....period. A buyer would understand if funds were held up - if they didn't, then they aren't worth dealing with in the first place. I hope it all works out well for you Frank. If not, please let the rest of us know who we need to be aware of in the future.....

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. If paypal was holding your funds it would have said something. It would not have come up as a buyer dispute.

Even if you pull the money out paypal will put a negative on your account if the dispute goes the other way. I was burned off ebay once because I shipped normal USPS and didn't have a tracking number. You're only way of disputing back is if you have a tracking number. I learned always get a tracking number no matter what.

I did ship it yesterday and provided paypal with my tracking number. Paypal is investigating my case right now. What the buyer did is that he file a dispute for unautheorized payment. If paypal can approve that this person submitted a false claim, it will release the money to me. So I guess paypal still has the money at this moment. I don't have the seller's protection this time because the buyer paid me as a gift from his/her bank account. FYI, seller's protection means seller will have the money protected as long as a valid tracking number is provided. So for sellers, sometime having buyer to pay as a gift and save $20 might not worth for losing the seller's protection.

I will keep everybody informed as how the outcome will turn out. As soon as I find out this person is a scammer, I will expose his/her identity here. So no one else will get burned. At this momnet, I still like to give the benefit of doubt to this person in case he/she is innocent.

I was reading this thread today:
https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/f11/atlantareefer-do-not-sell-him-all-44471.html
and instantly thought of what's going on here. I really hope you ended up changing your mind and haven't shipped out the corals yet.
Good luck getting through this -- Those of us named Frank need to stick together. :)

Where is AtlantaReefer located? I assume he's in Georgia from his user name. This person I'm dealing with is also in Georgia and very new user here. Is the some sort of coinsidence or they are the same person. :squigglemouth:

Maybe you can ask Rev to check and see if your buyer and Atlanta Reefer have the same IP address, assuming this transaction was done here and not on RC...

This really ticks me off. I cant believe it. I hope this scum bag gets whats coming to him.

I was scammed by reefkuku, which is the same person from ATL ripping people off here recently. People be aware of this person.

sorry frank ... i left him negative feedback in the itrader, but it was only 2 days ago when i realized that they were the same person. :( wish i would have known sooner
