PC Guru's, help please

My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E SLI. I'm going to try and find out how to reload the bios, if that is what it is called. I have no idea about how to do anything with a motherboard, other than to connect the hardware to it.

Well in order to download something on ASUS website it shows that weird box where you have to type in the word in the box in order to download anything. Of course I can't see those letters in the box with the way my computer is at the moment. I did download the file on my laptop and transferred it to my main computer. When I open it, its a .bin file and Windows 7 don't know what to do with it...

Can anybody help with how to update bios or chipset?

Okay, you redid drivers, even OS's. Its not software IMO.

What monitor? Is the monitor on DVI or HDB15 connection (analog)? If analog/15-pin, is there a DVI-15-pin adapter? Can you swap out one of the GPU's at a time to another computer and see if they still do that? Did these 8800's EVER work right, or have they always done this?

I am very suspect that one of your cards has a bad controller on it, or that the SLi interface is messed up (maybe the cable)... say, remove the connect cable between the cards and run each one on its own to a monitor and see what happens. This might tell you more than putting them in another computer, and is very simple to do. Before you shut off the computer, disable SLi, then after you power down, remove the SLi ribbon cable and restart the computer. Try the monitor on both cards and see what comes up.

My Asus boards allow you to update the bios from the bios itself. You have to have a little USB drive with the new bios on it, or a cd/dvd for it to read from.

Otherwise, you can make a disk on your laptop (if it has a burner) for the mobo to update its bios with. The bios needs to have its boot order changed so it will boot from disk before the hdd though.
