I'm looking into getting a pearly jawfish! I have a 34 gal red sea with 2 clowns, a cleaner shrimp, and cuc. I'm willing to increase my sandbed level but I have it at around an inch and a half right now. Is it okay if I only increase the sandbed in the back half of the tank?

My parameters are usually as follows

Temp 78f
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8
Alk 12
Cal 440?
Nitrate 0-10
Phos 0-3

I would increase the sand around the rocks in a few spots because that’s where they like to burrow.

Sounds good, the sand level in the front of my tank isn't a good representation of how deep it is because my clownfish like to push it around and host the sandbed next to the glass.
Is there anything else besides the sandbed that I need to keep in mind for them? I heard they might be hard to keep- thoughts?

They are just like a goby, super easy to care for. Just have a tight fitting lid and be prepared to target feed it if it doesn’t want to come out of its burrow to eat.

Gotcha- and if I plan on adding a sand sifting goby as well should I add them at the same time or one before the other?? Thanks for answering my questions :)

It doesn’t matter too much when you add them, but I would add the jawfish first so it can make its burrow before the Goby starts disturbing the sand.
