I picked up a Pearly Jawfish yesterday from my LFS. He went in the tank and immediately found himself a rock and built a huge burrow under it.

But about an hour ago he came to the other side of the tank (90 gallon) and is in one corner and he is just swimming back and forth in about a 6" space almost like his is pacing. He sometimes goes up about halfway in the water column and the goes back down. It seems like he is confused and can't determine how to get out of the corner.

Any idea what may be wrong with him?

He is probably fine. Mine did that when they were introduced. It might take a few days for them to get comfortable. Watch the overflows because while they are getting settled they do dumb things.

Thanks for the info. I hope he is OK. He was fun to watch today as he built his burrow. He seems to have a lot of personality..

Thanks again for the info. Our tank has a canopy on it and I built a screen back for it when we decided to get him. We have already lost one fish to jumping and that is 2 fish too many. I built the screen the next day..

looks like you bought and introduced it right to your tank no QT? did you at least check the salinity of the fish store water a lot of then run very low some as low as 22.6ppm or 1.017sg and could cause shock and dehydration if added to high from low to fast

It will take a couple of weeks for him to get used to the tanks and be in the open. Once it is settled in they are a great fish.
