Their diet consists primarily of coraline algae. It is important to give them plenty of live rock to graze on. In the wild they feed on small inverts such as sea squirts as well.

I have one, it hitch hiked in on some live rock a couple years ago. was about about the size of a marble. Now it's a baseball. How big do they get? What inverts do they eat? They seem to slow to catch anything. How many can you have in a 400G display?

They primarily feed on algae. In the wild they feed on small inverts such as sea squirts. They average out at about 5 inches full grown. How many can you have in your 400 gallon display? A lot!

The recommended amount is at least 10 gallons per urchin :)
