Good morning fellow reefers. It was pointed out in our FB group that now is the time to make sure that your backup systems are working. We are watching for a big winter storm Sunday. That could mean heavy snow , downed trees and power lines. Check your batteries and generator before the storm hits.

Good luck and happy reefing!

It's going to be a doozy for sure.

I was without power for 15 straight days when Ike blasted into Houston. It was a challenge to keep water flow going and the tank cool (ish).

You have to think strategically with using your finite means of power resources.

Also, it might be smart to bring the temperature up with tanks (slowly of course), in order to have a good place to start from when it comes to a prolonged power loss.

15 days is crazy! Did you manage to keep everything alive?

No. Lost a couple of corals and some inverts. Couple of crazy things: A) I was having to drive 1.5 hours out of town to replenish gas cans (people often times don't think about the ability to get gas). B) Neighbors just a street or two over had their power restored within a couple of days -did they pay off Entergy, lol?
