Not sure I get the difference between your Peppermint Hogfish, and what F&S sells as the Pacific Redstripe Hogfish @ $89.99
They are in fact a different fish... WWC is offering a Bodianus opercularis (Indian Ocean) or Bodianus neopercularis (Pacific Ocean), depending on where it was collected (some speculate actually same species). The Live Aquaria link is for Bodianus sepiacaudus.

Specific species aside, the B. opercularis/neopercularis sports one of the brightest red colorations I've seen in a fish, considerably more so than their cousins B. sepiacaudus and B. masudai.

B. neopercularis is a little more rare and a little more red with wider red stripes... awsume fish...
Bodianus sepiacaudus is the poor mans B. neopercularis

kind of like the swiss guard is to the candy basslet.

To me they are all fine fish though..

Will the hogfish fight with a candy basslet?? I am assuming so since their body shape and striping is somewhat similar.

Just wanted to add...

I used to be a Livestock Wholesaler in the early 90's, was a partner in a LFS ... I've spent countless hours in retail stores as part of my WM job and I've only seen a handful of B. opercularis/neopercularis Also... I've seen them sell for up to $1000 in a retail setting. This is a "must-have" fish for collectors.

It will stay pretty they do not change color much as they age. Look at the link above for size/care as they are very similar to the Pacific Redstripe Hog.

No
