Picked up an Aptaisa Eating Filefish from Petco Saturday and has been in my 75 for 2 days.

Skeptical if it’s even the right species. Does not look like any online images unless it’s find are crimped inward.

It also does nothing but float dead stick while its mouth sticks to a surface and dangles there such as that powerhead base in the photo.

Anyone’s exhibit this behavior the first few days in the tank?

No agressors that I know of. Low bioload tank as well.

Yea…

We’re gonna need a better picture than that.

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but I think it’s the right one. It is a super weird fish that does the super weird stuff. I currently have one in the overflow of my aquarium, it’s a huge 20 gallon overflow so he’s got plenty of room. It has decimated a bunch of large aphasia in there. Looks a lot like the one in your picture maybe take a few more pictures and post them to make sure.

Is this a better photo?
Yea, I’d say that’s the right species.

Petco usually gets ORA stuff from what I know, so I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have any other filefish anyways. Unless your petco is special
