Looking great Pete. You have a lot packed into that 29 I'm sure the 40 will go well for you. Are you planning to move everything from the 29 to the 40? Or just SPS etc.

How are the acan frags doing? Hope they went well for you. I was thinking of doing some myself.

Mostly just the sps are going into the 40 in time. The acan frags went well and I ended up fragging several more. Overall I ended up with 3 frags out of 18 not making it.

CA/alk consumption is getting pretty ridiculous now. I drip full saturated kalk, and with that this tank still consumed over 30ppm ca and over 2 dkh.... YESTERDAY! This just isn't cutting it anymore because that's way too much of a swing. I guess I need to read up about adding vinegar to the kalk to increase the saturation.

The orange milli is unnamed and also picture 2 in the rack. The only one in the frag rack I'm sure about is the pink lemonade... The others are from tck

So I just mixed up a gallon of kalk with 3tsp lime and 45 ml vinegar. My only concern is that it will zap the nitrate out (the tiny bit in there) for a few days.

Pete, what a great little Reeftank and story line to go with. Always seem to get distracted before taking the time to post here, so finally can say "Great Job" and will look forward to following your 40B thread as well.

Cheers, Todd

Yes please. I checked the nitrate just now and it was just a slight tint more than 0. I'm guessing it to be 0.1. You should see the 3in² of rods I broke out for todays feeding. I'm also going to make it snow with reef roids and coral frenzy tonight instead of my daily 1.4 ml feeding haha

Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm patiently waiting for the 40 to be mature enough for the sticks. It has a couple frags in it, and they're growing slowly. But the birdnest frag I put in there turned very pale even though its growing too. I'm really considering dosing nitrate in both tanks at those point.

I got to thinking about ways to help with this consumption issue and I thought maybe if I scrape some coralline algae off the glass it might help. So I scraped some of this morning and I couldn't believe how thick it was. In some places it was almost as thick as a credit card. I'm sure this will have some kind of effect on consumption.

Bonsai's are crazy:) Well speaking more for the GARF. Will massively encrust everywhere before it starts to grow vertical. Good luck! You'd think that millepora would show that bonsai what's up!..lol

It has encrusted all over the place and is actually growing vertical from the base. The coral it got into wasn't a milli, it is a hyacinthus.

Dag. Hyacinthus are some of the coolest tables. Gorgeous bonsai though.

Yeah, the bonsai has been with me for quite a while now. The hyacinthus has been with me for a few months. It was white as paper when I got it and it's made a great recovery. It started to grow vertically about a month ago which makes me happy.

Turbo charging the kalk worked great! I increased the drip last night to 6 seconds from 7 and actually gained .3dkh :)
