I haven't paid much attention to the tank for the last week since I have set up the 40. A little water change today and noticed the birdsnests are really starting to look good. I saw noticeable growth with them and some of the other sps.

I changed out the 12k for a pure actinic today. What do you all think?

Your corals are lookin'good! I'd like to try a birds nest as well and yours is very pretty. Makes me more excited to try one. Just my opinion Pete, but I like the 12k.

That's what I thought. Maybe its just the tablet I view it on but I thought the colors with the 12k looked great.

I pulled great color with the 12k, don't get me wrong. The switch gives it much more actinic pop though. The main reason I switched is because my rainbow acans lost the rainbow with orange and red taking over. I'm hoping the purples and greens come back with the switch.

Thanks for the kind words smoke.... As far as inspiration I wouldn't go that far lol. This is just something I threw together quickly over the past year and a half.

I think when we look at so many beautiful aquariums on these forums, our own always seems ordinary to us. Your aquarium is very pretty! Don't sell yourself short.

What people don't see are the struggles that I have had with this tank. I'm guilty of only posting about success, and I apologize for that. It has been a bumpy road with this tank and I'm surprised that its not all dead. I have battled zoa eating nudi twice, and recently redbugs. Also I have battled low Ph, alk swings, mistakenly using phosphate removing media too much, low calcium, you name it. I almost sold everything when I treated for red bugs because I lost some things.... Pistol shrimp,.cleaner shrimp, all my pods, and a couple acro. I guess I didn't rinse the Bayer good enough and it killed lots of things causing a nitrate spike, which took some acro. A few still are not the healthiest I have seen them. One good thing came out if it though, zoa are growing even faster. Which is kind of a bad thing because I can't seem to cut it and throw them away. I have had problems with finding new homes for all these zoa, and I need to frag again. If I had it to do over I would try not to buy so many different corals. Funny thing is that I bought even more yesterday lol. So not buying as many is probably out of the question. Good news is, I think I have finally gotten the 40 straight and I can move the acro into that tank soon.

Probably all of your tank problems are from your T5s. You need to run LEDs or your corals will die. :xd:

Believe me, everyone has struggles. Come to think of it, coming through them makes it more inspiring than one from someone who "has it easy"....
