Hi all,

Over the last month or so my ph has begun to fluctuate its max ph and low ph values from day to day. For example one day my ph meter records my high ph to max at 8.35 and a low of 8.15 overnight the next day its high will remain but its low and night will go down to 7.9 and the high the next day will struggle to bounce over 8.15. My Kh has remained solid for months at 8. I dose 2 part and dose 1.6L of kalk a day. I have a suitable protein skimmer and my room co2 never gets above 430 I have good surface agitation as with 4 20,000L/ph wave makers. My tank is 210G 5 ft SPS reef. I recently did a ICP and came back with low molybdenum(1.9ug/L) , boron (3.74mg\L) and strontium (5.73mg/L) I’ve since started dosing boron Daily and am raising to 5mg/L over 20 days. I have since an improvement in my maximum ph and higher overnight lows But to my surprise I still get the odd day where my tank drops to 7.9-8.1. Any feedback on what I can look into would be greatly appreciated.

pH is determined only by alkalinity and CO2. pH will vary a bit day to day if the amount of CO2 in your home air varies and I would not worry too much about the daily swing. Aeration reduces the daily swing.

Is a difference in those daily swings common. I use to consistently get 8.1-8.4 as either my co2 meter is incorrect or I have very inconsistent co2 levels in my aquarium. Appreciate the input

My systems run 7.8-8.1 for night day for many years now with no issues. If I open the door it will go up to 8.3 all day.
Your sytems swing is normal, imo.

It's not uncommon or a problem. :)
