So my pH starts anywhere from 8.0-8.2 and gets anywhere from 8.4-8.5 some days. Is this swing and range good? Worries me a little bit, but my levels tend to stay pretty level. @Randy Holmes-Farley

That seems OK to me, but the slightly high swing suggests less than ideal aeration and so that O2 may not be adequately exchanged at night (nothing to do with pH, pH is just an indicator of gas exchange).

Do you have a skimmer?

yes skimmer runs 24/7 and have good water breakage at surface with wave makers that are also the same throughout the day.

Im in Texas and my Ph swing is from 8.3 to 8.5. I think a lot has to do with the weather in my area. Some days it swings more than others. It can be 20% humidy with temps in the low 50F's one day and 98% humidity with temps in the 80's the next day. Doors open a lot or AC on a lot. Hard to keep temp stable too. 78F to 80F is the norm for me.

I would say your PH swing is very normal. Most people will see a swing of .2-.25 throughout the course of the day. Myself included. At night mine will sit at 8.1 and during the day it will reach between 8.3-8.35.
