Hi Guys

Is there a correlation between the PH of a tank and how much coral is in the tank.
Like if you have a tank with mainly frags will PH he harder to get up higher level vs if you have a tank packed full.

Before i crashed my tank i had wall to wall acro and used to get around max 8.5/8.6 PH with dosing Kalk. Thats with running CALRX dumping bulk c02 to keep up.
Now i have alot less coral and with dosing Kalk and using a C02 scrubber i get max 8.4

In my head the more coral means they are absorbing more of the excess c02, just my thinking no idea if what has any correlation.

I'd imagine it to be easier to have a higher pH with more corals as you are able to dose more alk solution which (depending on the type) raises your pH when added.

More photosynthesis means more CO2 consumed during the day, whether it is corals, algae or anything else.

The dosing is a mixed effect because more kalk dosed raises pH but more use of the reactor may lower pH.

I also think that the difference between 8.4/8.5/8.6 may be 0 as many things used to measure have a plus or minus
0.1 or 0.2

I'm not sure what the error range is on yours but that is something to keep in mind
Yeah that is true also, i check my ph probe now and then but as ur testing to 7 could still be off once u get that high

Yeah that was the reason i started kalk, 0 nutrients so couldnt run fuge and was doing 100ml/min on doser with PH of about 6 in chamber to burn media. Ph swing was .5 a day
