would you guys recommend Phosguard to eliminate brown algae? The brown algae is not out of control but it’s visible. I’ve been doing water changes and siphoning the sand bed cleaning glass ect…. In my chamber one I have Poly floss, chemi blue elite, biomax.

You may wish to use phosguard if your goal is to lower phosphates and silicates. Are you testing for either of these? Also I'm pretty sure chemi-pure elite already has GFO in it.

Brown algae could be many things (dinos, diatoms, cyano) . I'd try to identify which since the actions needed are different.

I'm not a huge fan of aluminum oxide (such as Phosguard), but it will lower phosphate.

Do you know if you have a phosphate issue?

How old is the tank?
How big is the tank?
What are your parameters?

A full tank shot (FTS) is usually helpful.

Phosguard is for reducing phosphates.

Are elevated phosphates a problem in your tank? What is your phosphate level?

To reduce phosphates, Phosguard has worked well for me. It reduced my PO4 from .85 to .08 in 8 weeks.

I've never deployed Phosguard to combat brown algae, but it may help if elevated PO4 is what is driving your algae growth.
