My phosphate and nitrates are out of control. We left out of town for a few weeks and when we returned there was algae everywhere. We could not get the Hanna Reading to budge: Phosphate 0.90 (max reading) and Nitrate 75 (max reading)

We finally noticed that the skimmer was not bubbling correctly last week. Once we fixed that the Nitrates have started to come down: 64.5 now. Phosphate still doesn’t budge. This started in Dec 2025.

I’ve been dosing NoPox by Red Sea once a day - 7ml

I use the GFO shown on the picture. I use the recommended dosage of 1gram per gallon (70 gallons). I change it every week.

Because the phosphate is so high I’m thinking I should be using more GFO in order to get it down and then less once is stabilizes.

Any thoughts?

Take it slow to bring it down, don't rush for huge results in a few days...
The GFO maybe getting exhausted before the week is over so maybe either adding more or changing twice a week
