Hello all,
I am thinking about the holidays coming up.
My phytoplankton cultures have been growing fine for months. Every 8 days I harvest and restart.
If I am going to be out of town for 2-3 weeks, what do I do with my phytoplankton culture?
My only thought now is to put it in a jug and store in refrigerator BUT I won't be home to shake it? Ideas?
thank you

Wow great advice. My phyto journey begins Friday. I had no idea that you need to shake it. I plan to keep 16oz of a fresh harvest to use as the following weeks starter. Now I know to shake it.

Well it’s a 30% chance of surviving actually. But no your right of it majorly dying.

I froze some myself and I was able to culture after it defrosted enough to throw an air stone in there. And I saved my culture.
Sounds like I freeze half a batch and fridge half a batch - hope for the best.

That is neat you were able to save it. Ive never gotten lucky and only use frozen to feed pods n stuff now not culture.
