I've decided to ressurect my thread after changing tanks a few months back.

Originally this tank was in a rimless 9g, with ugly hang on back equipment

I got this tank in a trade, and from what I can gather it was made quite a while ago, but its got great glass and decent dimensions (18x18x16 iirc) holds about 18g

Equipment:

Light: Ai Prime
Return: Sicce syncra 1.5
Flow: Hydor koralia nano 240
Heating: 2 50w heaters controlled by an inkbird controller
ATO: My hand and a jug :)

I'll be updating this thread as frequently as I can, but being broke not much really gets added or changes week to week.

here's some progress photos to see how far its come.

Move in day, I remember being extremely stressed despite not even moving locations.

This was the morning after, corals all unhappy but I thankfully didn't lose any.

And this is my most recent fts, 8/20/20 for better or for worse. Not sure how I made it this far to be honest, I feel like im barely staying afloat in this hobby. Coral has grown a bit over these months, but I still have a sinking feeling that it will just crash one day.

Currently dealing with a plague of bubble algae. Not sure how evident it is in these blue pictures, but it is EVERYWHERE. Almost a disheartening amount.

I love to hear opinions and advice, if you have any for me feel free to share.

Get yourself an emerald crab. Its kind of hit or miss, but mine did the job pretty well.

FWIW the waterbox cube 20 i just bought is same specs as what was described above. 18x18x16.

tank looks great! Love the aquascape. Simple but enough room for fish/corals.

With PicO.. I just loved the small USA business.. each hand crafted type thing. It was one of those tanks I always wanted but could not afford at the time in college.

Yeah i’ll agree thats definitely cool. I’ve always loved unique smaller tanks. There’s a kind of challenge to them that makes it interesting to me. Especially seeing how other people go about things.
