Pilot Whale Tragedy

Almost 150 Pilot whales beach themselves and die in a very remote beach in New Zealand. The story of the two hikers that found them, couldn't help them and had way to contact anybody to help them, and had to listen to the whales desperate cries is so sad. The photo of the beach with all the dead whales is just sickening.

It is a very sad situation. I wonder if marine biologists will ever figure out why whales beach themselves like this.
