I picked up a small pink Goniopora that refused to open up during the day. At night, it fully extends. I assume that this is a sign that the lighting is too bright? It is already near the bottom next to an overhang. I have dimmed my LEDs quite a bit thinking that the rest of the coral may be "annoyed" by the bright LEDs as well. I haven't had anything bleach in the year that I have had the tank set up but some of the LPS and soft corals sometimes do not inflate fully while the lights are on. Can you have lighting that is just bright enough to annoy coral but not bright enough to bleach them? I assume their first defense would be to deflate but wanted to get reassurance that I am doing the right thing by dimming the lights (the few SPS corals have done fine, very close to the surface).
