I just got home and saw this on my goby. It looks like something is coming from his anus. The thing that worries me the most is that is seems to be a loop and it goes back in. Are these his colon hanging out?

Had the fish for over 6 months. Tank mates are 2 cardinal fish and 2 wrasses. 2 cleaner shrimp and his pistol shrimp buddy.

Any help is appreciated.

It could be a worm, it could be poop, it could be one of the many types of cloacal prolapse (doubt) - if eating, swimming, etc normally - I would watch it. What does it look like to you? Any other fish with symptoms.? Any new additions? (PS- my guess is - sorry I can't see the pictures well) - is poop of some kind)

Let's hope for poop. Wow that's a weird thing to hope for. There were some tiny bits of cheato algae that came up from the sump maybe he could have eaten it? He looks fine to me swimming breathing acting like how I know him to be.

No new additions except for a couple of snails. And no other fish with symptoms.

I will pay close attention to him and hope.

See if it is still eating. It could be a prolapse or feces or chaeto.
If you can get clearer photos under white light, that would show it better.

It is still eating. Lights are off now. When it hasn't cleared tomorrow I will take some better pictures.

Thanks for the help!
