Maybe someone here can give me some ideas on how to take care of fish that has apparently lost most of his eyesight. My pinktail was the king of the tank, a 210 fowlr, for 2 years. Then one day he disappeared behind the rocks, no apparent fighting and as best I could; I could not find any indicators of disease or injury for that matter. I did pay close attention to his eyes, for any signs; I could not find any. His color was good, tail still bright pink, and seemed to be getting food.
Then 6 months later he's out and about. He seems to get some food when he spots it from far away, but doesn't see anything right in front of his face. He doesn't flinch from either side if I put my hand to the glass when he swims close by, so the sight seems to be affecting both eyes. I'm trying to use a magnifier to see if I can figure anything out.
He is getting some food, but not near enough. I can't target feed him, he jets into the rocks or the aggressive eaters in the tank would get the food first. The only tank I have to put him in if I pull him out would be a 20 long, he's about 6". That's providing I could even catch him. I'm also not sure if that would be best for him anyway.
